What is Cloud Drive?
Cloud drive is a type of file storage that can be accessed from any device with internet access. It is a storage solution where the user can upload their data and have access to it from any device that has an internet connection. The best part about cloud drive is that you can store as much of your data on there as you want, without worrying about going over some type of monthly limit (but you should worry about your money instead). Just like other types of backup solutions, because you are storing your files offsite, they are safer in case something happens to your computer or hard-drive.
Advantages
The benefits for cloud drive are that it provides access to files anywhere and anytime, the hardware doesn’t need to be as powerful because all processing happens on the server side, and there is no worry about running out of space.
Cloud storage, now more than ever before, is a great option for small businesses or individuals looking to store and sync documents and other electronic media without the hassle of purchasing external hard drives.
Disadvantages
However, some concern exists around security risks due to being outside your network perimeter or having limited control over backups. Cloud drive is also more expensive than other options like external hard drives or internal optical discs – so you may want to only store important information such as documents in this manner.
One example of an internet-based service providing cloud file hosting was Dropbox which started out by syncing files between two computers, but later evolved into a storage service with document collaboration.
In addition to the aforementioned security concerns, there is also some concern that these services may go out of business or get hacked and lose all your data – so again this might be best for storing important documents only.
